Job Description: Recreation Center Activities Manager – Big Trees Village

Location: Big Trees Village (BTV), Camp Connell
Season: Summer: Memorial Day through Labor Day
Employment Type: Part-Time / Full-Time (Seasonal)

Job Summary

The Recreation Center Activities Manager ensures the safe and efficient operation of Big Trees Village Recreation Center from late May through Labor Day. The Recreation Center Activities Manager (RCAM) plans, directs, and oversees daily operations programs, and activities as well as supervises staff. The RCAM promotes and maintains a safe, fun, family-friendly environment and actively fosters positive relationships with BTV association members and the community.

Key Responsibilities

BTV Association and Membership

  • Ensure that Recreation Center policies, rules, and expectations are well documented and communicated to staff, Association members, and guests

  • Provide assistance to the Board of Directors in communications with BTV membership

  • Assist in administering and maintaining all Association records, documents and correspondence and ensuring compliance with applicable local, state, and federal requirements

  • Engage with membership; create and foster positive relationships with members, ensure quality staff/customer interactions, answer inquiries and resolve issues and participate in Summer Board and Memorial Day/Labor Day member meetings

Operations and Recreational Activities

  • Assist Board members with new hire orientation and training, maintenance of employee personnel records and certifications

  • Plan, promote, lead, execute, participate and clean-up Recreation Center activities and events

  • Ensure adequate staffing is scheduled for all Rec Center operations, activities and events to include but not limited to: kids club, bingo, BBQs, social events, water polo, night swims, tournaments, and games

  • Communicate daily activities via announcements and front gate postings

  • Document activities and events through videos and photos

  • Maintain an active presence on various social media platforms and promote activities daily

  • Supervise, support and motivate Recreation Center staff

  • Manage and maintain inventory for Recreation Center operations and order supplies and materials in advance for activities

  • Coordinate with Facilities Manager to assure high caliber facility maintenance standards, cleanliness, safety and compliance with applicable regulations

  • Provide any additional support needed for the safe and healthy operation of Big Trees Village Recreation Center

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in similar positions

  • Prior supervisory experience, preferably with minor employees

  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification recommended: some training provided

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Responsible, dependable, and safety-minded

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying mountain weather conditions

  • This position requires frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds

Schedule & Compensation

  • Flexible summer schedule, including weekends and holidays

  • Competitive seasonal pay ($24-$26 per hr, based on experience)
