Job Description: Lifeguard – Big Trees Village
Location: Big Trees Village (BTV), Camp Connell
Season: Summer: Memorial Day through Labor Day
Employment Type: Part-Time / Full-Time (Seasonal)
Job Summary
The BTV Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety, supervision, and enjoyment of community members and guests at the swimming pools and surrounding facilities. This position requires strong swimming ability, attentiveness, and a commitment to providing a safe and welcoming environment in a scenic mountain setting.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor pool, diving board, and aquatic areas to ensure the safety of all swimmers
Maintain constant surveillance of assigned areas
Enforce pool rules and safety regulations in a professional and friendly manner
Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, including water rescues and first aid
Provide basic first aid and CPR as needed
Report incidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to management promptly
Interact courteously with residents, families, and guests
Assist with refereeing water polo
Assist with recreation center and pool activities
Assist with opening and closing procedures of the pool
Perform routine safety checks of pool equipment and facilities
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool deck and surrounding areas
Restock bathrooms with supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, soap, etc.)
Take out garbage from pool deck, office, front gate, and bathrooms
Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
Current Lifeguard Certification (e.g., Red Cross or equivalent: costs reimbursed)
Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification recommended: some training provided
Strong swimming skills and physical ability to perform or assist with rescues
Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Responsible, dependable, and safety-minded
Prior lifeguarding experience preferred but not required
Ability to work outdoors in varying mountain weather conditions
This position requires frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds

Competitive seasonal pay ($18-$20 per hr, based on experience)
